Thank-you for the quick response. You have been more helpful than 3 doctors and 1 dentist. I was at the dentist earlier today and he didn't act like my throat was a major deal. I agree with you though and I believe the infection is possibly spreading. I have an appointment to get a root canal done on the tooth next week. I have been taking APO AMOXI 500MG since Saturday and do feel it might be helping a bit. Is this too long to wait to get my tooth fixed, and how long will it take for the amoxicillin to clear up my throat if it's going to? Also the only pain I experience in both teeth is from the top when I drink cold liquids. Does, this make a difference?

Waiting until next week for the root canal treatment is not a problem since you've started the antibiotics.

The antibiotics will also help slow the spread of the infection so your throat should be better soon. It's only a concern if you feel like your throat is more constricted or if your voice starts to sound very hoarse. This would mean the antibiotics are not working anymore and you need to seek medical attention.
But it sounds like you now just have the normal symptoms (cold sensitivity, toothache, etc...)of an infected tooth WITHOUT the dangers of the infection spreading and blocking your airway.

Good Luck,

Dr Choo

Thank-you Dr. Choo

You have helped me a lot. None of the other dentists or doctors would tell me what could be causing my throat to swell. If ever anyone I know or myself have any dental question again you will be the first person to come to mind.
